[Playground] The City @ Liang Court
Sunday, June 14, 2015
After I came across Hokey Pokey, I became interested in other indoor playgrounds available in Singapore so while the godma was planning for a meet-up, she found another playground with the similar concept of pretend play!
We went to The City located in Liang Court since the branch at I12 Katong was too out of our way. It's a playground that caters to toddlers in love with pretend play, below are the learning stations available:
1. Supermarket
Knowing her, this was the first zone that she sped into...
She went all crazy when she saw the kids size supermarket trolley and cashiers on the tables. What's worth mentioning was that the playground actually provided shopping lists tucked on the shelves so we can really task the kids to buy the items as required on the cards. Good thinking to mix the game element while learning!
2. Café
This was the second area that I was confident she'll love, and I was totally spot-on.
She couldn't stop fiddling around the kitchen area and was so busy taking our food orders before she started cooking for us diligently. A not-so-perfect point was that the area was too small, there wasn't enough space to accommodate more than 3 kids inside so we had to wait for quite a while before we could go in and couldn't really play too long because other kids were crowding around waiting too.
3. Post office
Kids could colour postcards, paste stamps and drop them into the mailbox. Nothing interesting so she ran off before I could take any pictures.
4. Classroom
Kids could role play as a teacher with whiteboards and learning materials available to facilitate teaching. Sadly, she had no interest.
5. Fire station
Just a dress-up corner~
6. Health clinic
7. Nursery
8. The heroes
She stayed a little longer in the clinic and nursery role playing as a doctor and nanny(?). We also managed to sit down and have a rest in the Heroes area because she was getting comfortable playing with the Styrofoam blocks for quite some time.
9. Beauty salon
Just wigs and hair accessories available, nothing much
10. Road and traffic police
An area with road signs and Twistcars for the little ones to pretend they're driving according to road safety rules, but there's constantly kids walking and running around the place so it's quite hard to drive around without bumping into somebody else.

In summary, even though this playground had quite a number of different stations, most of them had little activities that could hold the kids' interest for long. Many of the kids were just lingering around the supermarket, cafe and heroes areas. If I were to choose, I'd definitely go for Hockey Pokey or Little Planet Playland instead!
